The chair was created for a house on the shores of Puget Sound. There was a need for a comfortable and beautiful seating, from which one could watch the sea, the sky, and the ships. The inspiration came from observing the life on the shore where all responded to nature: logs on the beach carved by currents and waves, the hulls of the boats – by human hand. I wanted to represent the mood one feels in the presence of the sea: the chair may be seen as an exquisite piece of driftwood presented on a delicate stand, or a hull of a ship, cradling the user on his meditative adventure.
